Ivory Coast: The UNDP chooses YULCOM to develop the Climate Change Adaptation Monitoring and Reporting System
ABIDJAN, October 31, 2022 – As part of the 2022 Francophone entrepreneurs’ Meeting held in Abidjan from October 27 to 28, the Montreal-based multinational firm, YULCOM Technologies, announced the signing of a contract with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to develop the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System (MRV) for Climate Change Adaptation in Ivory Coast.
Ivory Coast, a signatory state to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, has embarked on the process of developing a National Climate Change Adaptation Plan, through the Project to Strengthen the Integration of Climate Change Adaptation into Development Planning in Ivory Coast (GCF-NAP), financed by the Green Climate Fund and implemented by the UNDP.
To operationalize the SN-MRV, the UNDP, the National Climate Change Program of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the GCF-NAP project have entrusted YULCOM with the mandate to develop an operational information system on climate change adaptation in Ivory Coast.
At the end of this service, YULCOM will provide Côte d’Ivoire with a computer platform for data collection and management of the National Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System for Adaptation to Climate Change. Present at the meeting at the invitation of the Quebec Council of Employers, the CEO of YULCOM, Youmani Jérôme LANKOANDÉ said: « Adaptation to climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. We are therefore honored to participate in this pioneering project to provide Ivory Coast with an information system on adaptation to climate change ».
Karl Blackburn, President and CEO of the Quebec Council of Employers, comments: « We are delighted with the confidence that the Republic of Ivory Coast and the United Nations system have placed in the Quebec-based YULCOM. This project is also proof that French-speaking employers are sought after and solicited for their expertise in a subject as vital as the fight against climate change ».
The entire YULCOM team in Canada and in Ivory Coast is delighted with this mark of confidence from the UNDP.
