Artificial Intelligence:\u00a0 YULCOM awarded government grant to develop R&D partnerships with Korean companies<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Government of Canada has awarded a grant to YULCOM Technologies to support its collaborative R&D projects with Korean companies operating in the fields of AI and IoT applied to health.<\/p>\n

This federal funding for YULCOM is part of the Canadian International Innovation Program<\/a>, a Government of Canada program delivered by the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program.\u00a0 \u201cThis funding will allow YULCOM to advance its research projects in the design of energy-efficient and distributed Artificial Intelligence models that allows analysis in Medical Imaging,\u00a0\u00bb says Youmani J\u00e9r\u00f4me LANKOAND\u00c9, CEO of YULCOM.<\/p>\n

In the medical field, many diseases are diagnosed through medical imaging (MI). This is the case for many types of cancers and certain gastrointestinal diseases, among others. Medical imaging equipment is expensive and expertise in clinical analysis of these images is quite rare. This has an impact on the entire health care system in terms of time, cost and efficiency of care.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Komi SODOK\u00c9, YULCOM’s R&D and Innovation Director, \u201cThe technology we are developing is innovative in the sense that we are proposing a paradigm that combines less expensive, high performance portable IoT MI equipment with an Edge & Cloud application to assist in MI analysis via artificial intelligence\u201d.<\/p>\n

This funding will enable YULCOM to develop research partnerships with Korean companies for industrial R&D collaboration in the digital health sector. For example, as part of the activities covered by this grant, trips to South Korea are planned by the YULCOM team.<\/p>\n

About the Canadian International Innovation Program<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP)<\/a> is an international innovation\u00a0R&D funding program delivered by the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) \u00a0in partnership with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). The program promotes industry-oriented innovation partnerships with countries with which Canada has a Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) Agreement.<\/p>\n

Through calls for proposals, it funds projects that have high potential for commercialization. The TCS also organizes networking and matchmaking activities to help Canadian companies to develop new R&D partnerships and accelerate their growth.<\/p>\n
